The Creek in Motion
A glimpse of Compass Creek through the seasons — a full property video is coming soon.
What's Included
We've thought carefully about what makes a mountain stay truly enjoyable — a well-stocked kitchen, roasting skewers for creekside evenings, and games for all ages.
The Property
Compass Creek Cabin sits in a quiet hollow deep in the Nantahala National Forest — perfectly situated between Hayesville, NC and Hiawassee, GA. Step out the back door to the creekside fire pit, or follow the hidden path to a secluded bend where the cabin disappears from view entirely, leaving just you and the sound of water rushing over the rapids.
Who comes to Compass Creek
Kids wade the creek, catch fireflies, and fall asleep happy. Parents watch it happen. Nature does the entertaining — the log dining table seats all 8.
Rushing creek water, birdsong, and silence. No traffic, no noise, no demands. The forest and the creek restore what the world takes away.
The primary suite is genuinely romantic — lanterns, private porch, soaker tub, river rock shower. Perfect for anniversaries or simply escaping together.
Decorated Thanksgiving through early January — Christmas tree, garland, white lights. A warm, magical setting for any winter celebration.
Creekside fire pit, wraparound porch with a swing, and a log dining table for 8. The kind of place conversations last all night.
275 feet of private Compass Creek out the back door — two access points, including a hidden path to a completely secluded bend. The Hiwassee tailwater and top-rated NC streams are within 30 minutes.
You're in the heart of legendary mountain riding. Rockcrusher Farm is 15 minutes away; world-famous curves are 30–90 minutes out.
The Jackrabbit Recreation Area near Lake Chatuge offers a flowy 11-mile loop, plus miles of uncrowded Nantahala National Forest trails.

Guest Reviews
We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin! The property is just amazing, especially the serene creek and forest. Cynthia was the most communicative host I've encountered which helped make the trip easy start to finish — including a needed date change last minute! We will definitely be back.
We booked last minute and it turned out to be an absolute gem! Tucked away in a beautifully secluded spot on a peaceful creek — perfect for our family with four small children. The outdoor space was a dream, the kids had a blast with cornhole and frisbee golf, and the hosts thought of everything. If you're looking for a private getaway surrounded by nature but packed with family-friendly fun, this is the place.
Cynthia's place looks just like the photos — probably even better, because the photos don't capture the beautiful sound of the creek or the twinkle of fireflies in the evening. My son didn't even want to leave, he just wanted to play in the creek. The kitchen has everything you need, the TV has Netflix and cable, the beds were great, and the couch was cozy and big enough for all 5 of us. Basically as comfortable as home. The nearby towns are so cute, and Helen is within driving distance — we went twice. Very private, at almost the end of a gravel road. A great place to unplug and relax.
